Accessibility
LargeWords is designed around readable type, clear controls, and printable resources for older adults and low-vision users.
Readable By Default
The public site uses large type, high contrast, simple navigation, keyboard-visible focus styles, and print-friendly layouts. Activity pages include Large and Extra Large print settings where PDF output is available.
Accessibility is an ongoing process. If a page, control, or printable output is difficult to use, contact hello@largewords.com.
LargeWords is designed for slower, low-pressure use. There are no forced timers on activity resources, and printable pages can be used offline after the browser creates the PDF or print view.
Design targets
- Large text and generous spacing
- High-contrast controls
- Keyboard focus visibility
- Simple page hierarchy
- Print-friendly output
- No forced timers for activity resources
Low-Vision and Print Notes
Activity pages use large cards, large buttons, visible labels, and printable settings for Large or Extra Large output. Print controls are intentionally plain so a family member, caregiver, or activity leader can prepare a page without learning a complex tool.
Some browser and printer combinations handle margins differently. If output is clipped, use the browser print dialog to choose “fit to page” or download the PDF version when available.
Feedback we can act on
- Text that wraps poorly
- Buttons that are hard to tap
- Print output that clips content
- Color contrast problems
- Keyboard navigation issues
- PDF download problems
